**PRN Position; Salary $42.00 – $50.00**

Responsibilities

Registered Nurse (RN) job responsibilities include:
               

  • Provides patient-focused nursing care of the acutely ill or injured patient. Utilizes the core nursing process of assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating and correlating accurate documentation to reflect the course of treatment.  
  • Ensures patient care is holistic, compassionate and meets both the clinical and spiritual/emotional needs of the patient.
  • Triages and prioritizes patient care based on acuity level and available resources. Implements the care plan and monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate.
  • Works collaboratively with other disciplines to provide well-coordinated patient care. Promotes a positive attitude for good interpersonal, interdepartmental, and inter-facility relationships. Shows consideration for and maintains good relations with others. Ensures assignments delegated to another team member are within his/her scope of practice, competency, and level of licensure, communicating needs in a clear and concise manner. Assures delegated tasks are completed and accurate.
  • Performs essential job functions within his/her scope of practice and maintains awareness of and adheres to current policies and procedures set forth by Premier as well as other regulatory guidelines set forth by entities including but not limited to The Texas Department of State Health Services, Board of Nurse Examiners and Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA).
  • Adheres to established laboratory procedures and follows established safety guidelines for working in the laboratory. Processes specimens according to written Laboratory procedures, reporting results and filing paperwork accordingly.
  • Provides basic respiratory services including use of capnography, pulse oximetry, and administration of supplemental oxygen and nebulized aerosolized treatments.
  • Utilizes critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Internally inspired to perform to the best of their ability using his/her own drive or initiative.
  • Maintains composure when confronted with job stress or emergency situations and adapts well to changes in the workplace.
  • Facilitates patient transfer and discharge.
  • Demonstrates a solution-driven attitude. Participates in the development of departmental policies & procedures as well as related documentation by offering recommendations that aligns with current trends in emergency care, represents current standards of care, and supports the focus of Premier to provide family-friendly, compassionate care with little-to-no wait.
  • Attends unit meetings, remaining abreast of current departmental, facility, and organizational goals. Assists in dissemination of information as needed to other team members.
  • Participates in staff assessment and performance evaluations as requested. Fosters a positive environment conducive to staff development.  Cultivates team members by assisting with competency and training as well as promoting ongoing staff education.
  • Diligently executes other duties as assigned.
  • Participates in ongoing professional development.

Skills & Qualifications

Education Qualifications and Credentials:  

  • Must possess and maintain a current Registered Nurse License in the State of Texas (or compact license with the State of Texas)
  • Current certification in BLS
  • Current ACLS and PALS are required
  • Excellent interpersonal skills are required      
  • At least 2 years experience as a Registered Nurse in an Emergency Department Setting
  • Per CMS requirements, employees working in healthcare are required to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 prior to starting employment or be approved for a medical or religious exemption

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills:
Knowledge of current federal and state laws and regulations that apply to Freestanding Emergency Centers in addition to the practice of nursing. Possess strong organizational and time management skills and the ability to prioritize responsibilities.

Responsibilities

Patient Care Assistant 2 – PRN Essential Job Functions:
General

  • Welcomes and greets all patients in person and/or over the phone. Answers the phone while maintaining a polite, consistent manner practicing proper telephone etiquette.
  • Protects patient confidentiality and ensures that Protected Health Information is secured by not leaving PHI in plain sight and logging off the computer before leaving it unattended. This includes not sharing passwords or personal information with coworkers.
  • Assists in keeping Premier ER clean and organized. Cleans and disinfects equipment, instruments, and supplies as needed.
  • Attends staff meetings as scheduled.
  • Maintains own knowledge/skills and attends appropriate training for role responsibilities.
  • Assumes responsibility for coordination of educational activities, as appropriate.
  • Assists in facility and system Quality-Assurance activities.
  • Displays professionalism, tact, respect, and team effort when working with coworkers and the public.
  • Refers patient complaints to appropriate designated personnel as needed.
  • Assists with placing patients in rooms after registration.
  • Assists with patient transport within the facilityor to their car upon discharge.
  • Acts as a sitter for psychiatric patients in crisis (suicidal ideation, homicidal ideation) when needed.
  • Receives supplies into the facility.  Unpacks and properly stores items in a timely manner.  
  • Performs tasks and/or assist with procedures that are within his or her knowledge base, competency, and as permitted by the policies and procedures of Premier ER.
  • Transports specimens to partner labs as needed.
  • Works collaboratively with other disciplines to provide well-coordinated patient care. Promotes a positive attitude for good interpersonal, interdepartmental, and inter-facility relationships.
  • Maintains awareness of and adheres to current policies and procedure set forth by Premier as well as other regulatory guidelines dictated by entities including but not limited to The Texas Department of State Health Services and COLA’s laboratory accreditation program.
  • Adheres to established laboratory procedures and follows established safety guidelines for working in the laboratory. Processes specimens, reports results, and files paperwork according to written Laboratory procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Patient Care

  • Performs tasks and/or assists with procedures that are within employee’s knowledge base, competency, and as permitted by the policies and procedures of Premier ER.
  • Assists with resuscitation efforts such as performing chest compressions, assisting with retrieval of needed supplies, and/or performing other tasks per Premier’s Policies and Procedures and according to the ER Assistant’s documented training and competence assessment.
  • Obtains patient’s weight and vital signs. Acquires 12 Lead EKG’s and places patients on continuous cardiac and/or pulse oximetry monitoring, as directed and/or ordered by the provider. The Patient Care Assistant is responsible for the collection of information only. Interpretation of the information collected is the responsibility of the appropriate licensed care provider.
  • Collects specimens such as urine or nasopharyngeal or throat swabs and performs laboratory tests as ordered on the specimens.
  • Assists with wound care.
  • Assists with patient transport within the facility and/or positioning of the patients.

Skills & Qualifications

Patient Care Assistant 2 – PRN Education Qualifications and Credentials:

  • Current BLS Certification or obtained within first 14 days of employment.
  • A minimum of a High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills are required.
  • Two years’ experience in healthcare or related field preferred.

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills:

  • Must possess knowledge and understanding of daily assignments, unit activities, and basic computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel programs, and software applications.
  • Demonstrates effective and accurate verbal and written communication.
  • Must be flexible in changing assignments, workloads, and learning of new skills.
  • Able to comprehend and communicate instructions, multitask, be detail-oriented, and organized.
  • Possess general knowledge of safety and infection control.
  • Some minimal travel may be required between sites of operations.
