Responsibilities

Emergency Room Technologist – ER Tech job responsibilities include:

  • Determine the level of care needed by patients and redirect to the proper location
  • Administer generalized, therapeutic and diagnostic care/intervention
  • Assist with lab tests/specimens; use lab machinery
  • Collaborate with families, giving them necessary information within a positive environment
  • Dispense medicine to patients
  • Provide patient discharge instructions
  • Precisely follow the doctor’s directions
  • Adhere to all state and federal healthcare rules and regulations

Skills & Qualifications

Emergency Room Technologist – ER Tech required skills & qualifications include:

  • H.S. or GED graduate
  • Certified as an Emergency Medical Technician: At least 3 years experience for EMT-B / At least 1 year of experience for EMT-P
  • Up-to-date Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation certification
  • Up-to-date State Health Services-issued licensing (TX)
  • Advanced reading comprehension skills
  • Able to quickly and accurately problem-solve in a variety of situations
  • Must be able to perform basic math

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of nurses and ER Technicians, ensuring a positive, supportive work environment.
  • Oversee recruitment, hiring, onboarding, training, and performance evaluations of nursing and ER tech staff.
  • Manage and maintain monthly scheduling, ensuring all shifts are covered efficiently.
  • Develop, update, and enforce nursing policies and procedures in collaboration with leadership.
  • Provide direct patient care as needed, including therapeutic and diagnostic interventions.
  • Assess patients and provide age-specific education on their treatment plans.
  • Participate in and support infection control initiatives, ensuring compliance with policies.
  • Ensure accurate and complete patient records while maintaining strict HIPAA compliance.
  • Provide administrative support to physicians and clinical teams.
  • Actively contribute to workflow planning, crisis management, and quality improvement efforts.
  • Maintain a clean, organized work environment, ensuring adherence to safety protocols.

REQUIRED EDUCATION

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas.
  • Minimum of 5 years of nursing experience, with a strong ER background preferred. ICU experience will be considered.
  • At least 2 years of management, charge nurse, or leadership experience in an ER setting preferred.
  • Current ACLS, BLS, and PALS/ENPC certifications.
  • Completion of company-provided laboratory testing education and competency training.
  • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to interpret medical and business regulations, write reports, and present information effectively.
  • Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
