Responsibilities
Admitting Service Representative job responsibilities include:
- Promotes a positive work environment. Builds and fosters rapport with all supporting departments.
- Greets patients and the public, providing necessary information in a courteous and professional manner while supporting HIPAA regulations.
- Adheres to all third-party payer requirements including Medicare, Medicaid, managed care and commercial plans.
- Verifies insurance eligibility and reviews eligibility responses for coverage information.
- Requests and accepts payments including patient co-payment, deductible, and co-insurance responsibilities.
- Maintains knowledge of current federal regulations regarding admission, registration procedures, and ensures adherence to those guidelines.
- Completes registrations by obtaining patient demographic, insurance, and financial information.
- Scans all appropriate documents into the electronic medical and financial record.
- Obtains required signatures on all medical, financial and compliance documents.
Skills & Qualifications
Admitting Service Representative required skills & qualifications include:
- H.S. graduate or GED certificate
- Knowledgeable of insurance procedures
- Able to use various office equipment, including computers
- Familiar with Microsoft Office
- Able to multitask and prioritize during high-volume times
- Excellent customer service skills
- Prefer at least one year of medical office experience
